Since 1986, The Lemonheads have been cranking out some of the most memorable, classic garage pop and punk rock of all time. It was not until 1990 that Atlantic Records took notice and shoved the band into the limelight with their fourth LP entitled Lovey.
Within a couple of years, lead singer Evan Dando reached out to a broader, fresher, younger audience with The Lemonheads’ power pop masterpiece It’s a Shame About Ray, released by Atlantic in 1992.
From that point on, Dando has put himself through a whirlwind of life’s ups and downs. In 1993, media hype heated up when curiosity arose about the evasively cute relationship between Dando and longtime friend (and musical colleague) Juliana Hatfield.
Later that year, while touring extensively in support of The Lemonheads’ next Atlantic release, Come On Feel The Lemonheads, Dando endured more media scrutiny as People Magazine labeled him among 50 of the most “dishiest” people in America.
